The current Escalade is a true SUV riding on GM's GMT900 truck platform, but there is a possibility that the vehicle could be engineered on the Lambda platform that currently underpins the Buick Enclave, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia (and the soon to be released Chevy Traverse). GM has briefly considered, and ultimately rejected, a Buick Enclave Super which would have had a V8 engine, so it is clear that the chassis can accecpt one of the General 8-cylinders. It would, however, have to be a small block since GM has already announced that it will soon be discontinuing the NorthStar. Source: Motor Trend
